NISSAN JUKE-R: World's Fastest Crossover?
Nissan commissions a one-off supercar-powered version of its Juke crossover
Whether you love it or hate it, the Nissan Juke elicits strong opinions from nearly everyone that sees it. But now, Nissan's quirky crossover is about to get a different kind of attention: Nissan has commissioned RML for the task of building a one-off creation that places the powertrain of Godzilla, the much-admired GTR, into the Juke.
The highly modified Juke will include the 520-hp twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 powertrain, the GTR's six-speed transmission, with a modified GT-R all-wheel-drive driveline. The GTR suspension will be brought over (at least partially), as will the huge Brembo brakes and some serious wheels and tires.
The compact Juke crossover has been a sales success in Europe where more than 100,000 units have been sold in the first twelve months. We're thinking that even if the Juke-R doesn't make production (and we can't imagine it will), at least some of the technology and go-fast goodies will trickle down into the next-generation Juke.
The Juke-R will also feature some aerodynamic modifications, including flared fenders, an aggressive front splitter, and slick rear diffuser.
So, whether you love it or hate it, one thing you WON'T be able to do is criticize its performance! Props to Nissan for getting back to what matters - Let's hope it's a success, and there are more radical ideas to come.
